Dear Members of Saint Ambrose Parish,
Since the founding of Saint Ambrose parish, there has always been a statue of the Blessed Mother in front of the church where parishioners could gather for private prayer, devotions, or photos to mark special occasions such as Baptisms, first Holy Communions, Confirmations, and Weddings. This was true of the parish church built in 1968 (the current school gym), as well as the parish church built in 1977, which once stood where the new church now stands. Today I am excited to announce that Saint Ambrose’s new church will soon have a statue of the Blessed Mother and a small prayer garden as well.
You will now notice some construction taking place in the open grass area between the church and the school, where a new marble statue of Mary holding baby Jesus will soon be located. The statue will be located atop a pillar decorated with angels, and will have four marble benches, and uplighting. The brick and tiles that form the patio of the prayer garden will include a rosary and images of Mary. The marble statue and the angels included in the base are currently being crafted in Italy, under the design of Saint Jude Shop of Philadelphia. The construction is being done by Whitner Jackson, who built our new church. Construction should be completed in May, and the parish will then hold an official blessing ceremony with Bishop Burbidge.
This new Blessed Mother prayer garden is the generous gift of one donor, who has taken responsibility for the entire cost of the project. It is his intention to have this small garden be a place for the parish and school to gather for prayer and devotion to Mary, especially to honor her as mother and protector of all children and the unborn. Please join me in praying for this project, and for the intentions of our donor.
In the weeks ahead, I look forward to sharing updates with you as we prepare for our dedication ceremony in May, the month that honors the Blessed Mother.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Very Reverend Andrew J. Fisher VF
