Sacrament of Confirmation

Holy Spirit“Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.” - Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1316

Students customarily receive the sacrament of Confirmation during their eighth grade year in the Diocese of Arlington, upon the completion of a special two-year program of study and service.  Confirmation of students in our parish religious education program and school is normally celebrated in the fall at St. Ambrose Church by the Bishop of Arlington, or by another bishop designated by the diocese.

Adults needing the sacrament of Confirmation should contact the Director of Religious Education, or one of our priests, for more information about preparing to receive this sacrament.
